Syndicate of Writers is a literary Organization of Peshawar, mostly attached with literary activities in Urdu, the National language of Pakistan.
Founder of this literary forum was late Professor Khatir Ghaznavi, a remarkable literary figure of subcontinent. This literary Organization is still living and playing its active role to convene the literary meetings on monthly basis.
The tradition of criticizing a piece of fresh literary work in form of prose or poetry, written by individual, who use to read or recite it in the presence of some learned members of the forum, including one senior presiding over the meeting. Every member takes part to discuss, criticize or advise the writer, on his turn with the permission of worthy president of the meeting.
Prof; Nasir Ali Syed, Dr. Nazir Tabassum, Prof; Hassam Hur, Prof; Khalid Suhail Malik, Suhail Anjaum, Professor Sabih Ahmad and other renown literary personalities are senior members and some are also office bearers of this literary setup.
They use to circulate a short message through one mobile to other mobiles, and this is a way to invite and inform about the date, time, and place of the meeting, the concerned people of now a days adopted as a newly born culture of the age of fastest information technology. Here is an example of Anglo Urdu short message; I just received, caused to write and post these lines, as one of the literary activities at Peshawar.
Professor Sabih Ahmad serves to send this message in Roman text, on behalf of Professor Nasir Ali Syed, could easily be supposed as he is secretary of the Syndicate.
Sabih writes:
- Syndicate of Writers. Mahana Adabi Ijlas. Aj 6:30. Ibadat Hospital. Dr. Nazir Tabassam Sadarat. Hassam Hur ki taza ghazal par guftagu. Nsir Ali Syed.
We could try to rewrite this excerpt in about a sort of English used to be spoken here in Peshawar as per detail written in below:
- Syndicate of Writers. Monthly literary Meeting. Today at 6:30 PM. In Ibadat Hospital. Dr. Nazir Tabassum will preside. Conversation on fresh Maddrigal of Hassam Hur. Nasir Ali Syed.
This is an interesting and fastest way of sending invitation to request the concerned to participate the literary meeting, and this easy and dog cheap way is being used in every where especially in literary circles of Peshawar, the place of cultivation of the culture of literary busyness.
What happened in this monthly meeting of Syndicate of Writers? We are keen enough to know and write the story.
