Abasin

Abasin Arts Council Peshawar is an old most Literary and Cultural Council at Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkwa Province of Pakistan. AAC was established by the literary personalities of the city of Peshawar under the patronage of Mussarat Hussain Zuberi, the then Commissioner of the city in 1956. Main office including display hall or picture gallery, auditorium, library and conference room was situated in a building , adjacent to the building of Peshawar Museum. It was latterly rebuilt and converted in to Archive Library and related auditorium. Abasin Arts Council was shifted, in result, and occupied  a portion of a newly built Nishtar Hall Peshawar in 1985-86 and it has kept continue the function to patronize every and each class of art being flourished at Peshawar, the busiest capital city of newly named Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan and the valley of its own culture art and literature. Mushtaq Shabab

senior broadcaster and a popular journalist Mushtaq Sahabab is running the activities of this council as an Honorary Secretary. Professor Khatir Ghaznavi, Professor Mohsin Ehsan,  Iqbal Awan are a few big names among others who had worked on the chair of honorary secretary in past history of this council. Abasin Arts Council is consisted on different departments of arts such as Literature, Drama, Music, and Painting and each department has its own elected secretary.  This council uses to announce the Literary Awards for the best books published in national as well as in regional languages of the area, such as Urdu,Pushto and Hindko.

This council is affiliated with Khyber Pakhtunkwa Culture and Tourism Department. A sufficient amount is allocated by the provincial government to run the activities of Abasin Arts Council, during every fiscal year.
